Description
“Tori” (singular: torus) can refer to oral tori, which are common, benign bony growths on the roof of the mouth (palatal tori or torus palatinus) or under the tongue on the floor of the mouth (mandibular tori or torus mandibularis). They are usually harmless, but may need surgical removal if they cause pain, interfere with eating, speaking, or getting dentures. “Tori” can also refer to a mathematical torus, which is a geometric shape resembling a doughnut or an inner tube, formed by rotating a circle in three-dimensional space.
